Vast open spaces, an endless view of the sky and a steady wind form the northeast at this time of the year make Dumaguete City an ideal place for a kitefest. Last Sunday ,February 09,2003 Bear Brand, delighted the kite lovers with a kite flying competition in three categories: elementary, high school and adult geometrics.
The preoccupation of outdoor life in the middle 1980’s started the industry of ecotourism , although the term was not coined yet then.
Adventure tours was the catch word for the outdoor crazy travelers who had cash to spare for even the most difficult trek or the most inaccessible destination . Bhutan still cashes on it by insisting on a high value tour package with lowest impact on the culture of its people. The government, convinced of its potential took active participation by investing on the tourist facilities and eventually turning it over to the private sector which still continues to cater the high end market to maximize revenue generation for the community. Bhutan’s case is the ideal blend of economics and ecology.
Yes that's how the group spells out their name. And yes each member's faith in Him is amazingly without limits. Daily miracles characterized the journey of the choir from start to the present including their six month journey around the United States during the second half of 2002.
The Message is listen and trust in the Supreme Being who is in control and who has nothing but the best for each one of us .
When you believe The Message your faith is bound to be without limits. Such boundless faith of the musical director, Gina Raakin , inspired the group to claim “Faith Unlimited” as the rightful name for their choir and “When You Believe” as the title of the concert they did in the different cities in the United States.
It is January 02 ,2003 and Tanon Strait is in rage. The waves are wild and unruly striking its fury on the rocks , sand and mangrove roots and trunks on its path . It has been relentless for the last twenty -four hours. The tide is rising and it will be its highest for the next four nights at 1meter and 80 centimeters. With that depth you can imagine the fury of the waves. It could be a hundred times more than when it is low tide . And because the highest tide from October till March is at night, the darkness which magnifies the sound of the raving waves can drive anyone into panic
The sand bags held , the tires fought and the bamboo groins stood all throughout the four day scare of the furious ,raging Northeast Monsoon during the New Moon last weekend. The waves were kept at bay from the weak soil dikes. A triumphant look on the faces of our workers on the last day said we survived the fight once more
Commitment is alive among our civil servants, exemplified by the the people who run the Dipolog School of Fisheries. Seeing then work and listening to their discussion on what’s going on in their school makes me forget about the travel ban and the bomb scare . They go about their mission no matter what.
